Sorry, crinkle cuts have more calories than straight chips, more surface area to absorb the fat
Question Author
I prefer straight ones.
JJ - that's what they all say...:-)

We don't cook chips, the only time we eat them is if we go to the chippy. We don't eat potatoes a all very often - I have a few in the veg rack which are beginning to sprout, they've been there that long.
suez they arent spicy just tasty
But I guess you can add any herbs or spices
I don't need to worry about calories.
Thanks 4get, I'm gonna try them :)
I wouldn't allow a deep fat fryer in the house.

Too much risk of fire and really nasty burns.
JJ, you've probably long eaten but next time you could heat chips in the microwave for two or three minutes. They come out perfect.
My homemade chips always taste like cr@p
Honestly I have tried every way, ever and they always are soggy, fat filled yuk.
Even oven wedges dont turn out nice.
I say I have given up and stick to frozen, but I keep thinking.......this time, they will turn out right....I will not be beaten by a spud!
Re fried chippy chips...yum
do you pour oil over rather than shake in a bag?

Aunt Bessie's. End Of!
Eddie51,you may be onto something there, yes I soaked them BUT not for that long, and what do you know, they always taste sweet(which for me is just wrong with a chip)
Here I go again....tomorrow I will cook the perfect chip!
