Has anyone read this? My sis in law lent it to me and I just can't get into it at all. Am tempted to give it up as a bad job, but should I persevere?

Don't normally go for historical novels though.

Hope to hear from you.

My BF bought it for my birthday, so I felt obliged to at least attempt it. I must admit, I got into it fairly quickly and enjoyed the first third of the book. Then it all started to get a bit boring....
I must admit I am only halfway through & even though I would like to finish it one day, I'm not sure I actually will.,
It sure is a big old tome...
I do agree with Salla.
Had no trouble at all getting into it, but did find at just over half way in it became a tad repetitive!
I read it and quite enjoyed it but I do like that sort of stuff.

I wouldn't say that it's one that really picks up half way through so if you've given it a shot and can't get into it I'd move on if I were you
I loved it. Must admit I enjoy historical novels and I'm interested in the period, but I suppose the book is written in a very distinctive style that you either love or hate. I was in hospital when I read it and got through it in a day - enjoyed it thoroughly.
