Im after a new stereo for my Mondeo, but dont want to spend a fortune, those days are far behind me now.I need to be able to attach my iPhone preferably through a jack into the back of the unit. Also what is the best solution to the size issue . The ford standard stereos are those awful big units, can you get "filler" plates or something

What's wrong with a Ford unit? At least they connect easily (just push into the slot)

I know nothing about connecting iPhones, but if your current Ford unit is faulty, then there are usually plenty of second hand ones on eBay.

I connect my phone via an iTrip solution from Belkin. It is ok but the sound quality is not brilliant, and i get a lot interference from other sources. I would like to connect the phone directly to the stereo to stop the interference. The fitted ford stereo does not support this
What "type" of connection are you expecting?

Iphone, that is .. not IPod!
You can get numerous radios that have an aux input on the front. All you needs then is a fascia adaptor, see:-

Some Ford units have unconnected Aux in pins. If no Aux position, you are screwed.
Just buy a decent brand with aux jack at back, and stick an extension lead to glovebox or console.

I would like to connect through an aux in the back, like you do with a multi changer cd. I am more bothered about the space left by the big Ford unit, anal I know but I don't want it to look rubbish ha ha. Will check out the link thanks magicmerlin. AlBags your right, I have had the unit out and no aux unfortunately
