Kidney stone?
2 Answers
My poor little sister is around 26 weeks pregnant, on her second course of antibiotics for mastitis again (she finished one course and 2 days later it returned!).
She's just rang now to say she's been in pain, weeing a bit of blood and then a stone (well she said it looks like a seed from fruit). She's gonna get it out the toilet and go to the docs this afternoon.
Does this sound like a kidney stone? If so, what do you think they'll do? She's very worried.
Thanks

Now is it just one? or are there others?
Probably initially NOTHING as she could be dehydrated from the Mastits, which could concentrate her urine and produce a stone (gravel sort of)
As she is pregnant, they will avoid unnecessary X-Rays and investigations.
They will probably just monitor the situation.

Thanks Sqad, it was just one.
She had a wee infection before she got pregnant and had blood, which the doc was worried about.
I feel really sorry for her because it's not been an easy pregnancy for her.
I shall let you know what the doc says. Just been reading that kidney stones in pregnancy aren't uncommon due to not being able to break down calcium as well?
Anyway, thanks again :)
