I am not sure where to go with this one, any help would be much appreciated! I'll put down my very confused thoughts as follows:-

I am trying to find out a little more about my gggg grandfather Joseph Bishop. He was born in about 1813 in Carlow in Ireland. At some point he turns up in England because he marries in 1840 (his wife, Betsy died in 1849 so he took up with her sister, Alice Hurry). He ran a pub in Wisbech and also farmed. He died in 1871.

With his second wife he had a number of children - all with the second name De Rippe. What is driving me mad is where this name came from.

The best I have been able to come up with is a baptism in 1805 in Dublin - Joseph, son of Joseph Bishop and Mary Darippe. So the Darippe thing fits. I don't trust this entry though because a) the birth would be horribly wrong and b) this was submitted by a member of the LDS rather than transcribed.
