Is it just me, or could it be because other people have different kinds of toast but . . .

. . . is toast that's made in a toaster crunchier than toast done using a grill?

Not making it up, I promise! I find it hard to stop at 2 slices - oh, and you need loads of Marmite, as it helps cut the peanut butter...

marmite and peanut butter is lush!
to get really crunchy toast in a toaster, you have to blanch it first - like you would a chip!
couldn't resist

crisgal, wouldn't that break the toaster, how can you dry it properly?
I think in this case blanching is meaning to lightly toast first,, let cool then give it a blast on full to crisp up.

Ahhh, that would make more sense. Sort of like when people double fry chips (or triple in Heston's case).
Toast under the grill is better. Toasters are just convenient...

I like my toast to be evenly golden all over, which you can do under a grill.

Quite frankly, i'm surprised I'm allowed to turn the grill on just to do toast, I mean all that electric it must use, it'd be a lot cheaper in the long run to buy a toaster.
It takes much longer in a toaster than it does under a grill.
