Is there any way that I can remove the ad from my Yahoo homepage? If not is there any way I can move it to the bottom of the page so that I can ignore it? Changing the page appears only to allow me to choose the number of columns. I have tried dragging it

Basically .. no. You can't move it or remove it.
Some ad-blocking software may work tho. But Yahoo are quite crafty with getting these ads through, whatever.
What browser are you using? IE8? Firefox?

Halfway down .. Hosts.zip .. Install as advised. That will stop a LOAD of stuff in web pages, and will be quicker to browse. You may see "Internet Explorer Cannot Display This Webpage" on some web pages, as the ad content is now blocked.

Many thanks AlBags, I shall look at those sites. I don't know why they bother. Guess there are many, like me, who only get irritated by them and would go out of my way not to buy them. How about an opt out clause?

Where do you think they get the money from to provide you with services for free?
Can you just change your home page?

Thanks Chuck, that has put it into perspective. No hassle from here on in.
