I bought a set of 3 ladles with handles about 12 inches long in a charity shop and would love to know what they were used for.
They are of different sizes - the largest has a small metal plate soldered to it marked 'whisky' and holds about 10 ounces, the middle one is marked 'rum' and holds about 7 ounces, and the smallest is marked 'brandy' and holds about 3 ounces.
I think they may be made of copper.
Can anyone help solve the mystery?
Sorry about the Imperial measures - given what I assume is their age, I didn't think metric measurement would be apporpriate.
Many thanks

Hi, kawakiri
Yes, these are the same, but I see they are reproductions. I think mine must be original, as they are rather battered and tarnished, and look as is they have never been polished.
It would be realy great if they were originals - not for their value, but because I want to give them to someone who collects old ephemera.
Have you any idea of what they were originally used for?
(I would hate to drink a whisky measure - I would be in bed for a week!)
Have you any idea how I can research them?
Many thanks - sorry for all the questions.
