wont spin; it's an Indesit......any ideas for repairs please ?

I would still check the brushes first, if not that it's possibly the motor control module (expensive) and after that anything else becomes really expensive!
This video shows a hotpoint motor, older indesits had identical motors and even the newer ones the principle is the same

Make sure you disconnect the mains if you are going to check them yourself, But I really would recomend getting somebody else who knows what they are looking for to check them.

I;ve just had that problem with 2 machines (I'm greedy). One was a belt (very cheap to replace) the other was a brush (also cheapist).
In the past though, it has been the motor or even an electric wire come loose. Find a man who can. I found a Polish one - very lovely, knowledgeable, quick and cheap ;-)
