A Film called: If

Can anyone tell me about a film I saw some years ago.  It is about a public school for boys ( young men) and all the frolics and growing up they go through.  I loved the music score and I think it sounded like Taveners music.  Can anyone help me out here please.  Thankyou.  The film is called,  If.

The change from colour to black & white filmstock during this film was cited by arty film critics as "representing the stripping away of individuality" or "illustrating the bleakness of the situation" and other such pretentious rubbish.

Director Lindsay Anderson revealed years later that the project was rapidly running out of money so they switched to monochrome film stock (then much cheaper) halfway through filming in order to save some cash !!
