can you not go into a branch of Barclays and ask?? they should be able to tell you what branch it is from.

why?

Unfortunately you have to pay to get this sort of info online but as THFCUK says your bank will be able to tell you.

GREEDYFLY weren't you ever told not to answer a question with a question?

There is a directory called the "clearings Directory" - it is not listed in their though. All Barclay Branches start 20- though 27 is a Barclays code - would have thought it may be one of their internal codes.

Hope this is a bit more helpful than the other responses.

I can post this 2moro if you still haven't figured it out. Today I'll mostly be watching a film or two.

It might be a branch or it might be one that they use for business purposes : "you want to send money to us to pay your credit card bill? Woohoo!!!! - send it quoting sort code 27-47-32, account number....."
(I doubt that it is literally for credit card payments).
Computer says no.

"Not a valid sortcode"
