Teacher's Superannuation

I taught for 7 years in the 70's before starting my family and have been a Supply Teacher off and on over the years.
How do I track down and claim the Superannuation that I have accrued albeit small, over the years?

Ring Teachers' Pensions on 0845 6066166 and quote your teacher number (DES/DfES number etc) and see what they say.

Thanks for that. I'm not sure I still have a record of this number, it being so long ago and having moved house 11 times in the last 35 years.

Yes they can and do.
However you need to be aware that the employers (local authorities) in most cases did not include supply teachers into the superannuation scheme - it was not compulsory for them to do so (though it is now). So you may find that the TPS people deny all knowledge of your involvement in Teachers' Superannuation.

Timely question - I was wondering about this what with all the talk about the changes to public sector pensions (although I can't claim for some time but I did pay in for 16 years).
