having thoroughly enjoyed "Star Rover" by Jack London, I'm looking to delve further.

However, the friend who introduced me to the book informs me that random delving into London's work may leave me less than gruntled. can anyone suggest another of his books that might fullfil me?

White Fang is the one most people read. Story of a wolf cub.  I read it at school centuries ago, but its not strictly a children's book, more a classic.

i have only ever read White Fang and Call of the Wild and that was many years ago. Call of the Wid is about Buck a sled dog in the Klondike and White Fang concerns the taming of a wild dog.Stories for animal lovers really!!
The following text is stolen from http://www.getyourwordsworth.com/WORDSWORTH-JackLondon.h tml

"His most notable books include The Call of the Wild (originally entitled The Sleeping Wolf) which was published in 1903, The Iron Heel, White Fang, The Sea-Wolf (originally entitled Mercy of the Sea), The People of the Abyss (a sociological treatise about the slums of London, England), John Barleycorn, Martin Eden, and The Star Rover. His short story, To Build A Fire, is considered to be an all-time classic."

I hope this helps.
