BIOS problem

My laptop has given up the ghost and will not boot up, I have tried bootin g via BIOS but
to no avail. As last resort I tried system repair using the XP restore discs, I get as far as choosing option 1 or 2 but I have no means of making that choice since I have no means
of clicking on the required option. any ideas please.

I don't really understand the question, I think you are muddling terms up somewhere...

But try using the arrow keys on the keyboard and the enter key to make selections.
If you are using a USB Mouse & Keyboard try to interrupt the boot up to get into the BIOS and enable the USB.
It sounds as though that may be the problem
Plug in a wired standard cheap mouse. It's easier.
Use keyboard only .. in Bios or Disc/XP tools screens.
