Hi - have a big piece of ham (6lb 3oz) and I am going to wrap it in foil, put some water around it and cook it at 180 in a fan oven - how long should it take? Thanks

Hi Sherrard, I would normally simmer it in water for half an hour or so, to get rid of the salt, let it cool, then roast in the over after that. You're making me hungry - I haven't served a gammon joint for ages!
I'd boil it as well...

Boil it....in coke, dry cider or ginger beer. Must be the normal ones not "diet" versions though.
when cooked , slice down a little maybe 1 inch, in severall lines and brush a mixture of brown sugar ,mustard and a spoon of water, put back in for five minutes. mmmm
