Intrusive Excel 2007 - How can I get rid of it?

I use Office Home and Student 2003 which includes Excel.

Since last auto updates were downloaded, my PC (Packard Bell/ Vista) is forcing/opening Excel 2007 every time I try to open a spreadsheet. Microsoft help people told me I had downloaded a trial version, which I have not.

It seems that a trial version may have come with the PC and I installed my own 2003 version and haven't used 2007 version. Up to now it has never appeared.

Revo uninstaller cannot find it, I have deleted the updates (but they just download again) and it still pops up every time anyway.

Can still access my files by opening office 2003 then particular file but want to be able to just click a file as I always have done.
Anybody any other ideas I can try to get rid of Office 2007 which I cannot find?

have you looked in programs and features in the control panel?

Hi Chuck

Yes I looked and found Office 2007 under Programmes/TOOLS. That was the only place I found it and have deleted it from there. In control panel is only 2003 version, where it should be.
If you are still having an issue download the Windows Cleanup Tool from Microsoft web site and run it. If the program is still present it will show it here. Also make sure you remove the trial upgrade installer as well it can be found here as well. This tool will remove any Windows or Microsoft programs.
Any use?
