Yes ellipsis - it makes me laugh - I spend months racking my brain - listening to throw away comments - checking out what he is playing with - researching things on the internet - working bloody hard to pay for it - shopping for it - hiding it- wrapping it - putting it under the tree and some fat guy in red suit gets all the credit!!!!!!

It's worth it all to see them happy though :o)

I get the feeling that Santa might bite the dust this year as boys are 10 and 9 now

If they're anything like my kids, they'll stretch it out for another couple of years because they worry the gift flow will stop or reduce if they own up to not believing ...

I thought the moment had come a couple of months ago. We were in the car and the youngest asked "Mum, do you think Santa is real?" i thought I'd test the waters so asked back "well, if he isn't, who leaves all the presents?" Eldest fired in "Maybe it's mum's and dad's" I was about to respond when youngest declared "Honestly C.... do you really think that Mum and Dad have that kind of money after paying for our holiday in Turkey?!!!!!!"

....and the moment had passed!

Eldest obviously has his doubts, but as you say it will probably string out for a wee while - I do enjoy it in a way, but I don't think they'd be any less excited and it would save a lot of hassle if I didn't have to hide all the wrapping paper etc.

Was also expecting to see 'Baby Annabelle' on the list. She seems to be a hardy perrenial that is in short supply come October.

Whats your Christmas present rules & reg. Glad me an me sister sorted out a 'kids only' policy for crimbo and b-days. Especially as my bro-in-law bday is 14th Dec and mine in 23rd Dec.

I'm going to limit 50 quid each on the kids. Its not like they dont get from other family members.

Booldawg - we do the same, it's kids only. Whilst I do have quite a large extended family, we don't live nearby to any of them and are not that close - my kids get some money/gift cards sent from relatives, but Christmas morning is essentially down to us. We are probably overgenerous at Christmas (it seems from what I have heard that most Scottish parents are!) I don't have a budget for them, but we spend "a lot" probably spent about £700 between them so far over the last couple of months putting stuff away - some of that was with loyalty points from sainsburys/tesco. Not intending to spend much more.
