a few years ago i saw this movie on tv, it was a thriller about a bunch of people and a professor of some sort who stay in this big, old house that's supposed to be haunted. the main character was a woman. some scenes i remember are; this crowd of howling faces trapped in a wall, the woman being asleep at night and waking up to find the cherub faces craved into her headboard crying and whispering, and the ceiling dipping down and trying to stab her in her bed. a wealthy woman and her rich, cruel husband had lived in the mansion a hundred years ago, and the woman (the one who's alive) keeps seeing stuff like a child hanging by his neck from the greenhouse ceiling, she screams, but then he's not there anymore, and she's the only one who sees all this stuff. i also remember a scene with a mirror room, and one where she finds an old photo album with black and white pictures of the wife who had lived there, and when she flicked the pages really fast, the woman was slowly raising her hand, pointing at a spot near the fireplace, the woman removes a tile from where the lady in the picture was pointing at and finds children's bones there. that's about all i remember from the movie, can anyone tell me the name of it?

Is it "The Haunting". There are two versions. Check here:

I must add that the original is much better than the remake. IMHO of course.
