Allergic rash...how long to appear

Yesterday (Tuesday) evening I came out in a very itchy red rash over my legs, arms and torso which eventually died down during the night after I took an anti-histamine. Thinking back over Monday and Tuesday I had some itchy skin but nothing unusual; however I cannot think of anything I ate or came across on Monday or Tuesday which usually causes an allergy. The only things I can think of were some seafood at Sunday lunchtime or some bread for Sunday breakfast which was heavily seeded.

My question is, if I am developing an allergy to something how long would any rash take to appear and could a rash which appeared on Tuesday be caused by something I ate on Sunday?

I had similar put down to 'toxic shock' when I used fem wipes.
