Welcome to a new month and a new game of MM Links. I am delighted to say that slaney has picked up the gauntlet and will be the Links setter for the month of November. There are immediately three interesting details I can disclose. Firstly, this is only slaney’s second session as the Royal Setter (I thought that this would be her third). Consequently, I have no qualms about placing on her the mantle of responsibility. She is an important contender and must be encouraged to “pull her weight” (private joke!).

Secondly, during her very first reign (last winter) she was heading south in a visit to the Antarctic (looking for Santa Claus perhaps – or even gen2?) and left her preambles in my hands to alter as I saw fit (bad move!). Thirdly, she earned her spurs last year by becoming top of the Leader Board after a month of Links set by (none other than) Strix! Déjà vu? These facts should give you some idea of what you’ll be dealing with!

You can expect service as usual and games in the accepted format with the channel of communication opening on AB tomorrow at 08.45am and the four words to be linked should be posted at 9.00am, when MM Links kicks off in earnest. Remember ~ early MM hits gain bonus points!

As usual, I ask that you should also look out for the international version of this same game which is called KM Links and kicks off at a very early hour (which is difficult to predict precisely). Consequently, the timing of your posting is deemed to be irrelevant ~ only the number of hits you are able to register. The regular organiser of KM Links comes all the way from Oz ( Roo-land) and is my good friend, “seekeerz”. She is truly the “Wizard-ess of Oz”. She puts the bounce into Kangaroo, the bite into Tasmanian Devil, the cuddliness into Koala and yet returns week after week like a boomerang!

Until I return, may I wish you ~ “Happy Linking”!

:o)
Evening all. Listening to fireworks going off all around, and relieved that my two cats have just returned, very wet and jumpy. They've probably been hiding under a bush. I had - I thought - got them safely in three hours ago, but the little dears UNLOCKED THE CATFLAP and escaped. Do you think cats understand 'I told you so'?
Btw, great quiz Gen2!
Looking forward to Slaney's month, mind you if she is on Strix's wavelength!!
Tearinghair...our animals are fretting also. We haven't gone to the invites we've had as we don't want to leave them alone. Sad I know, but they don't like it very much!
Thank you Crofter and Slaney. I look forward to your game tomorrow.

Tearinghair, those must be very intelligent moggies you have there if they can unlock a catflap (or at least, one of them is). Glad they're back safe. Not many fireworks going off around here because of strong winds and driving rain.

Glad you are enjoying the quiz, it is always great to get feedback.

Anyone else who would like a copy of my latest quiz (100 cryptic questions - 'Not Holly but Ivy'), will find the details here:

I'm also looking after my daughter's two while she's sunning herself in Madeira. They don't have a catflap. so are definitely in to stay!
You have your hands full tearinghair!
We have our purrposes!
nice one Pauline!
We too have our hands full. With around two dozen horses here and five dogs, none of whom appreciate whizzy-bangs we're more than busy. Normally the horse live out at night but because of it being Nov 5 we brought them in. This means tomorrow a lot of additional work cleaning stables out etc.

One of our neighbours, adjacent to one of our main horse fields, did however, considerately, phone to say they were having a fireworks party but did not tell us that it would go on, so far, for two hours!

Talk about a recession and people saving their pennies!
having been on fire work duty today and watching people spend I wanted to tell one young couple with 2 young kids to spend their £65 on food but had to take the money for their fire works
men of a certain age want the bigger ones that make the most noise
think they look big walking out with huge fire works
the ladies spend ages looking then buy 2 packets of sparklers!!!
I suppose recession or no recession people sttill want to enjoy themselves, and I don't have a problem with that. We all need cheering up, and have some pleasures in lfe!
What gets me is they are not the fireworks we used to have as kids...these are explosives...and far bigger and more dangerous. At one time they would have all belonged to organised displays! In fact that's what they should be in my opinion.
Yes, they've come a long way since we used to put a rocket in a milk-bottle, light the blue touchpaper and retire immediately!
...and the things they do to animals deliberately with the fireworks! Unbelievable.
I wonder if the links are bonfire related?...hmmm
