The beaters have gone slightly out of synch and are hitting each other, can this be remedied?

That must be slip or wear on the gears inside. It will have to be stripped/rebuilt to check. They are probably plastic and jumped a tooth or two .. maybe because of getting jammed!

I have had three of them do it to me. It is the plastic gears that have gone. Not a lot that can be done I'm afraid. New mixer for you I think.!
