Lawks factor that could also be right (although is more than a tad harder). It would have been easier if oscarina had typed the exact wording of the question. If she's after 2 figures for the answer then yours would be the correct solution.
I don't think oscarina is clear as to what the question is, but I'm pretty sure the intended question is as bibblebub and I have suggested.

Answer was -2 and -1. thanks for the correct answer, was totally confused by this question but maths teacher confirmed answer. Still more to go.

The sum of two numbers is -3 and their product is 2. What are the two numbers? This would have saved 27 posts.
