Think of 'railway' words, such as coupling, shunting etc, and you might get the idea!

I get the drift QM., however my partner said to me one night "I'm kn@ckered, lets just do trains". I'm not familiar with this expression and have no idea what she meant. For reasons I will not explain she will not give me an answer. Is an anyone else familiar with this saying?
Yes, I have, Harry Enfield & Chums used it in one their educational, black & white mini programmes with Mr Cholmondley-Warner.
From what you've said now, Mike, I suspect your partner meant what some people used to call 'spooning'. That is, lying close - both on your left-hand sides, let's say - with bodies touching (but that's all!) as spoons might be said to lie nestling in a cutlery-drawer. Mind you, since your partner's reluctant to enlighten you, I could easily be totally wrong!
Because they run on sleepers?
Its a euphamism for mutual masturbation
