Is this in bad taste?

I considered posting this in Family or even Religion & Spirituality but seeing as I spend most of my time lurking in here when I'm about I thought it's a good a place as any.
Anyway ... I haven't been around on here much lately as sadly my mother passed away last week after a long illness. Thing is we are due to visit the chapel of rest tomorrow to see her one last time and place photos and a couple of other tokens in with her. She has always loved the horses and placed a few bets for as long as I can remember nearly every day up until her eyesight caused problems with reading the form in the newspaper.
My plan is to pop into the bookies tomorrow and stick a fiver on the favourite in one of the afternoons races and pop the betting slip under the photos so she can have one last flutter. I'm considering not even bothering to check afterwards to see if it has won but maybe will tell the rest of my family next week after her cremation.
I'm not particularly religious but do you think this would be wrong and could offend somebody?

It was actually very 'spiritual'. Some people might well have been offended, but what was important was my Mum and her close family and I knew she would have loved it. Naomi is right.
(Actually the elderly aunt who I worried about offending most of all said it was the most lovely and moving funeral she had ever been too - and she is a very religious, church going person)

Captain, sad to hear of the loss of your Mum and I think as your gesture is so personal to her it would be hard for anyone to see anything wrong in it at all.
My late husbands coffin had toys from the children, photos and a huge cigar (sadly we were not allowed a lighter or matches LOL) Go with your heart and take care now. ♥

I agree with MarkRae. Everyone's got different opinions Captin Kirk and you'll probably find someone who'll disapprove but I think the key is whether your mother would have been tickled by the idea From what you say she would have been. I also think she will know what you have done and she'll probably be smiling down from somewhere and know about the ticket.
Sorry about your loss. As with another poster, my step-father arranged my mother's funeral so we didn't have any involvement.
