Do I need to turn my router off at night or is it ok to leave it on permanently?

I ask because I listen to the radio via the Internet in bed as soon as I wake in the mornings and sometimes at night before going to sleep. I have a Roberts DAB radio which is so bass oriented (and has no tone control) that on a talk programme (Talksport etc) it is hard to discern the conversations. I bought the radio a few years ago for my wife who never used it for the same reason. She said it sounded as though they are speaking under water and the sound is very wooly. I have looked around and it appears that DAB radios very rarely have tone controls, why is that please?

They are designed to be left on all the time.
Though I don't understand the connection between your router and a DAB radio!
I turn my router off at night to save electricity, and to prolong its life.

However you don't have to, and if you wish to use it first thing, then just leave it on.
Hopkirk,

The main cause of wear for any electrical item is actually switching it on and off.

Thanks Guys. Chuck, I need to leave it on so that I have an Internet connection to my iPhone (from which I listen to the music stations) without having to go downstairs to the hallway to switch the router back on. Be interested in your opinion of the DAB/Tone control aspect of my question.

Sorry I should've explained that I listen via my iPhone because that transmits a more treble oriented sound. I don't use the DAB radio any more because of the afore mentioned problem.
If I leave my router on all night it get´s hot, if I turn it off and turn it on in the morning, it doesnt.

Just an observation.
