This is a serious injury, if you did it 2 years ago then it has become chronic now which will take longer to heal. If you are still ahving probs, you should be seeing your physio once a month at least, and YES you should be doing your prescribed exercises at home without fail EVERY DAY!!!! You should avoid impact sports, anything that involves twisting the knee, try swimming to strengthen thigh muscles, knee support or rest when aching. Unfortunately, you will have to put in the hours to get it right. Good luck!
