Am I abnormal?

I posted on here a few months ago about not wanting anymore children. I have a 3 year old, who I love so much. Anyway, I know loads of people who pop babies out, who can't wait to have more and I wonder if they're mad.
Someone my husband works with has announced her pregnancy at 7 weeks as she was so excited and couldn't keep it in anymore.
I was happy I was pregnant but felt so sick, I don't remember feeling that excited to be honest.
I honestly worry if I'm normal, I've never felt broody in my life. My sister-in-law has 2 little ones and says she constantly feels broody. Am I missing a 'broody' or 'maternal' gene?

You'll all prob say it's ok to feel the way I do but I'm feeling . . . oh it's so hard to describe but alone in the way I feel.

My husband and I have kind of agreed that we don't want anymore but I feel like a failure/not a proper woman in the way I feel :(

Thanks for reading

you sound normal to me, I think its a myth that all women are supposed to gush at babies, puppies or kittens.
i have no kids and i don;t get broody at all, i don't think your abnormal at all!
I think its partially still a social pressure thing. I have no kids, it wasn't by choice although we did decide not to go the medical intervention route. Apart from when i was menopausal and got the "lost opportunities" thing, I have never in my life felt broody and if anyone tries to tell me I, or any other woman, is not a real woman because they don't want kids, or want more kids then I will personally rip out their liver and feed it to them.
I haven't read all the responses to your post Misscommando but I just wanted to say that I had my son nearly three years ago who was planned. I adore him but I am not naturally maternal. I also never want another child. In fact, I have been considering sterilisation. However, my husband, being very paternal, hopes to have another child. He is aware that I do not want anymore children but I have not yet discussed the possibility of sterilisation. I enjoy every moment I have with my son and have embraced motherhood but I am certain that I do not want another child. Anyway, I am basically saying that you are not alone. I am glad you posted!
Well first of all, cheers to you for being a good enough parent to your 3 year old to say, "Hey, I need to focus all my attention on the child I have now". Many people think it's all about reaching some ideal number and to that I say botox!

Thanks so much for all your answers and for making me realise I'm not alone. I have been more honest with people recently and I think some people are shocked that because you have a child, you must have been broody to have conceived them!
