HD docking bay problem

I've just got a Freecom HD docking bay and a 2tb hard disk to back up all my photos and music.

The connection is USB, as I don't have a sata socket as yet.

The drive is recognised, but not the disk.

I'm running Windows 7, 64 bit.

Any ideas, anyone, please?

sounds like you need to put a partition on the drive and format it.

click on the start icon, right click on computer and select manage, then click on disk management in the left pane and do you see the disk listed there?

if it is listed what does it say about it?

It's looking good - says I must initialise before use, and offers MBR (master boot record) or GPT (GUID partition table)
It advises that GPT is recommended for disks over 2tb, but may not be recognised by older systems.

What do you reckon, please?

Well as it's under 2TB then may as well go for MBR for maximum comparability, but to be honest it won't make a lot of difference.
