Would I be a bad person to commit a mercy killing on my pet Barn Owl?
25 Answers
I've had a tame pet Barn Owl for a few years now and unfortunately my owl has recently contracted paratyphoid and is getting sicker and sicker and it really is killing me to see it in pain and losing it's feathers knowing that each breath it takes and each day brings it pain and misery and I've decided to end it for him as he's family and I can't take any more of his wheezing, spluttering and sickly hooting, is there a way I can humanely do this? I have two rottweilers but couldn't throw him to them as it would be a barbaric massacre and I also want him in one piece so i can bury him by his favourite tree.
Please give me some humane ideas.
Thanks, a sad barn owl keeper.

For those who do want to put a small animal out of its misery, put it in a brown paper bag, put on an oven glove, start the car and hold the bag end over the exhaust. The unfortunate animal will expired very quickly without any stress or pain.
