I would go with your doctors advice, I do have a dislike for nhs direct for 2 reasons, reason one, referring your symptoms and their diagnosis based on a computer program and secondly their fondness for wanting you to call an ambulance or go to a&e straight away.
I tend to agree cazzz1975 however purple's getting themself quite agitated/fretting and so a second opinion may help. Is there a pharmacy nearby? You (pp) could go and speak to the pharmacist for advice?
I disagree, too many opinions start muddying the waters, her doctor knows her, knows her history and has given their opinion. a pharmacist or nhs direct who has no history of knowledge stand a chance of making a knee jerk diagnosis, she only saw her gp on friday, based on that I would try to relax and let the medicine do its thing.
the anxiety and fretting will not do her much good if she wants to feel better imo.
