Early veg

Anyone thinking of sowing some early veg ? carrots, leeks, onions and even potatoes can be put in this month under glass with a bit of heat to get an early crop of veg in pots and tubs.

Well, I'm certainly not - too cold yet to go out and contemplate gardening plus I don't have any heating in the greenhouse so will just have to wait until March. Why are you????

Yeah, hopefully going to sow some bits this week, They'll go in the conservatory which i have to have a bit of heat on as the dog lives in there during the day and i have a few nice orchids.

I've got some peas germinated and potatos chitting planted them under a frame last year and got early pots which were fab

As soon as I get the polytunnel fixed and get some heat in there, I might put some stuff in. I can't wait!

I've started chitting potatoes on a window cill. Otherwise I'm just waiting for the weather to warm up, & the ground to dry out a little so I can finish the digging. I'm also putting some asparagus in this year at the end of March.

we don't do veg, but the spring bulbs are coming up in the garden, I've got two little daffs with flower buds setting already.

Sowed some seeds for various lettuce varieties and expect to prick out in two to three weeks.

I got my polytunnel finished yesterday. Just need to get the shelving in there (need to persuade He Who Must Be Obeyed to take his car stuff off my greenhouse racking and replace it with the nice new shiny shelf I bought him yesterday) and we are away!

time for spicy salad leaves ...in trays under polythene, and some peashoots
