Roxio VHS to DVD
I have a number of VHS tapes which I want to convert to DVD. I also have a number of questions please! 1) It seems to say in the User Guide that the action just uses the pc as a tool, with the dvd production being the end result. What I want to do is to record (say) an eight hour tape onto the pc into a user file, then copy the bits I want to retain onto dvd. Can I do this? How please? 2) It seems that the dvd size of 4.7gb is the equivalent of a 2hr tape. As I have a number of 8 hour tapes, is there a larger sized dvd available?
Thanks hopefully :)
Thanks hopefully :)

But you do realise that it captures in real-time? - i.e. to capture an 8 hour tape will take you 8 hours!

There is no real relationship between the length of a movie .. and the size of a resulting dvd, as all files can be compressed to get them on the disc.
If you import to PC and edit them as AVI, I would recommend you use VSO ConvertXtoDVD to convert.
With the quality you are using, you could produce a dvd with more than one title for each DVD .. and have around 2hrs 20min of run time without appreciable quality drop.
