Hi jaks, I have been watching your question with interest as I have one of these plants and wanted to know the answer too. !!! However none were forthcoming, so I took the libery of asking again in C.B. and I have the following advice. Keep in water, and no they will not grow if planted into compost. I have also asked on here again so keep checking. Hope this helps you.
Hi jaks, me again ! check out my post titled calling andyjevs as he explains about compost. It now seems we have a difference of opinion !!
jaks, Hi it's me again !!!  what ever you do DON'T plant your bamboo in compost. Only found out earlier today from a specialist they only grow in water.
