cost more than the actual printer!
I'm trying to find a basic printer (maybe with scanner) that is easy to use. I found a few around thirty quid but the ink was ridiculously expensive!
Can anyone recommend one that takes reasonably priced cartridges?

yup that's how they get you...look at canon and phoenix inks for non manufacturers carts.
the Kodak inks are very good value.
7dayshop.com has cheapest prices.
A decent priced printer is the 3-in-one Epson Stylus PhotoRX425. Excellent printing, especially pictures. And if you have a regular computer fair near you, you can get compatible cartridges at £5 a set of four colours. They DO not cause problems with your printer. I have been using the same printer and cartridges for three years now. No problems at all. Good luck
Check the Which site for recommended Kodaks - seen the ads - ink half the price of everyone else.
