What happens in hospitals is technically a "gastric lavage" or stomach washout. In simple terms, water is introduced into the stomach via a tube, and then the other end of the tube placed lower than the stomach so as to remove its contents via syphon effect.

Buy some Fybogel and take one each morning and evening. Also put some ground linseed into it or sprinkle onto cereal. Make sure you are eating lots of fibre (bran flakes, brown bread, brown rice/pasta, pulses, fruit and veg etc) and drinking LOTS of water. If there's still no 'movement' go to the doctor.
I love this thread, it's really funny. Get your 'friend' to ask the GP for Lactulose, I don't know if you can buy it over the counter. Fybogel every day and lactulose as well. Also those soft figs in the scrunchy packs are very good and will help you (or your friend) to 'go'. Three a day should do the trick. And drink plenty of water. The body could be dehydrated.
