Hi-Silver surfer running Firefox with Win 7. Cannot access disc defrag when I try it says it cannot run due to task scheduler not running-so when I try to access that it comes up as "remote computer not found" click Ok then task scheduler comes up. Try"Connect to another computer" I then select "Local Computer" and then nothing happens. Does any one of you guys know how to resolve this problem? Thanks in advance

You could try manually starting the task scheduler:

Click Start
In the search box type Services.msc
When it appears in the list of found items, right-click services.msc and choose Run as Administrator

Scroll down the list of services until you find Task Scheduler
Right-click and choose start.

Sorry, but your questions doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.
How are you trying to access disc defrag?

You say "when I try to access that it comes up as "remote computer not found""
How are you accessing the task scheduler?

Why, when the task scheduler comes up do you try "connect to another computer"?

Incidentally, why have you posted this in Internet?

Sorry about posting on internet-should have gone to computers
Rojash th second answer you gave sorted the problem for me Thanks
You don't need to apologise - I just meant you were more likely to get a relevant reply under Technology or Computers. Glad you got it sorted.
Why dont you turn off the Win 7 defrag and download and run Auslogics Disc Defrag which is free and does a better job than the Windows one you can even optimise the drive as well and you can schedule it to run if you wish.
Further to Galeck's post. I agree that there are better defrag programs available. Some such as Auslogic are free and there are other free ones. I use PerfectDisc by Raxco and have been happy with it for several years now.
