Chambers (11th ed.) also defines 'pippin' as "something or someone especially nice" which could be taken as a definition of 'peach'

The only reference I can find to Pippin is for apples, but a Pipkin is a small barrel. Pippin isn't on this list (nor is pipkin!) http://www.harvestwiz...s_there_are_more.html
