...off my ceramic hob?!
I left my big dressmaking scissors on the cold hob after cutting something, then accidently turned the ring on and walked away.
When i came back to see what the smell was, I had 18" high flames and a liquid scissor handle!
I've got most of it off, but have big bits stuck fast. I don't want to scratch the ceramic though. Should i remelt, and scrape off with a plastic spatula?

You could heat til soft, scrape off. Then scrape off thin remnants with a new stanley blade (like shaving) It will not scratch the ceramic.
Good tip for paint on glass that is, too.
