parking on an estate

When we bought our home 37years ago .There is a clause on the deeds ,stating that no viecles are to overnight park on the main road on the whole estate..There are about 27 houses .and all houses have a drive and a garage.
A young couple have just moved into a relitive of theres house which next door to us ,with a white work van ,and insists on leaving outside the house ,on the main road .It not only is the main thing that we can now see through our lounge window ,but it also obsquers our view when we reverse out of our drive .
We have asked them if its possible for them not to please leave it there,and the reply was It a nice looking van isnt it !!!!!!!!
How do we leagely stand as far as the deeds,and what can do about getting them to move this van .

the problem with covenants that come with houses is that they are often archaic and historical, and as far as i know (although i could be wrong - often am) they are enforceable by the people who made them (probably the original developers) You are unlikely to find the original developers still in business, or if they have been taken over, anybody who actually cares. Are you seriously saying that on the whole estate there is not one single person who aprks on the road overnight except your neighbours?, and that no-body has done for the last 37 years? What about people who DON'T live there - would they be allowed to park on the public road as the covenants don't apply to them?
In my opinion, they way forward is to talk to the neighbours

Thank you all for your comments ,sorry i did nt stay on but ,Id been on evening shift,
As far as the neighbbours on the other side its there daughter,and no there is no morgage as they couldnt afford to pay there own morgage on there house so they ve let theres All the other neighbours comply with the clause.
It was the council who put the clause in ,as well as no chickens or other farm animals are to be kept on the named properties.

Well Sylvia if it was the council who put the clause in shouldn't you be talking to them?

I'd like to know the answer as well. My estate has a covenant saying you can't have a caravan parked on your property, and I wish someone would tell the couple opposite who've had a manky van parked in their front garden for the last 4 years.

so what woud happen if you had some friends staying over and your garage and drive were full? would you be allowed to park on road then?
Anyway, speak with the council as suggested
