Alied carpets gone bust
14 Answers
Just been dealing with Alied carpets and they went into liquidation Monday.
Seems my £129 rug will now not arrive.
So now for to go via hoops to get money back from credit card company.
However not all stores are shut.
Some will continue to trade ??
Be very nervous using one of these.
What annoys me is it turns out they canceled the order for the rug last week !!
They knew they were going to default.
So be warned

The following week the shop was shuttered and locked and never opened again, and we never saw a penny back. If these companies know they're going under, and have no intention of delivering what you've ordered, and taken money, how come they're not charged with fraud?
If some shops are still trading and you've paid by credit card, you at least should get your money back. Good luck with that!

Have a look at the above, says they have gone into administration not liquidation and that all orders should be fulfilled o you may still get your rug.

"We are currently working to secure a going-concern sale of the remaining stores in the Allied Carpets portfolio."
Allied Carpets is the second biggest carpet retailer in the UK, behind Carpetright.
BDO sold the 51 stores and the Allied Carpets brand to a new firm, Allied Carpets Retail Limited, set up by Allied chief executive Clive Hutchings.
So they will still trade under the same name.
Good luck with buying from them ...
Hope they are secure lol

Well I called the Allied Carpets head office and they are going to send a mandatory credit note for the value of £129. I can then use this at one of the stores that has been bought out by management (51 of them). These will still be called Allied Carpets.
I called one of these stores this evening and they have the rug in store I wanted and have reserved it for me. It's the same price also. I will then drive the 40 miles to the store Saturday or after i get the credit note and collect the rug.
What a bloody hassle !
Still less hassle than trying to get a refund via the Amex card ....

Well to be honest it's only £129 and with luck i will get the rug or worse case money back via card company.
Imagine people who have paid out £1'000's for carpets and now will not get them.
I think lot's of stores are going to go bust in the next few months ...
Carpet Right must also be at risk ....see the profit drop recently ...
