Shares were trading at 71.6p at the close of trading today:

So, if you bought 1000 shares it would have cost you £716 plus your broker's fee.

To the best of my knowledge, there's no 'preferred stock' (with extra voting rights) for Debenhams share holdings. It's simply 'one share = one vote'. So buying a single share would allow you to vote but it would hardly count because big investment companies each own millions of stocks (thus giving each of them millions of votes):

Trace the names of all directors then write to each separately and personally concerning your grinding axe. Mark envelope Private & Personal - hopefully to get past the mailroom. Use perfect English, concise, without mistakes. Politeness counts including Mrs & Mrs & Miss. Don't post all letters on the same day so mailroom doesn't receive all at once. Don't indicate to any that you have written to the others. Someone will do something and it will be interesting to see exactly what. Hopefully each recipient sends a copy to to the senior bod in the department you wish to complain about - thereby said bod will have a busy in-tray.
Here you go for starters:
Nigel Northridge, Chairman
Rob Templeman, Chief Executive
Chris Woodhouse, Finance Director
Michael Sharp, Deputy Chief Executive
Adam Crozier, Non-Executive Director
Martina King, Non-Executive Director
Dennis Millard, Non-Executive Director
Sophie Turner Laing, Non-Executive Director
Sorry but you will need to find the Head Office address from www.debenhamsplc.com
No point in buying shares for your specific purpose. (Retail shares are shaky now anyway)
Go to it and have fun.
