All the papers are whingeing about the Budget ... not done enough for us, blahdy blah.

The previous administration spent Budget after Budget trying to create an impression of helping us financially.

They did it by borrowing astronomical sums of money, plunging the nation into debt, flogging off all our gold reserves, and leaving us in the worst financial poop since the 1920's.

Do we want that again?

They had nothing in the bank, so to speak, to give any huge benefits. However, at least the tax code is going up.
Agree with your post jj...why Blair and Brown have not been arrested I'll never know.
Give it time, TTG, give it time. We can live in hope.

There was a chap on the radio, moaning that he'd only saved 44p filling his car, so he was going to have a Mars bar.

If the Govt. has given away 44p each time we fill our tanks, that's like handing out £10,000,000s a week in petrol fills alone!
Where can you buy a Mars bar for 44p? It's more like 70p from a filling station around here.
borrowing astronomical sums of money? So the Sub-prime mortgage crisis which the government had to underpin with billions had nothing to do with it?

Don't anyone kid themselves, no one should kid themselves no matter which party was in power, we would still be in this position because the government any government would be in postion.

If you going to point a finger, you could at the de-regulation of banks, which was pointed out that we would lose or global financial position if it wasn't allowed, most of all by the Tories.

It may interest you to know that Northern Rock have just gone and parceled up £400m in exactly the same scheme so its meet the old boss same as the old boss.

You can without doubt accuse Labour of squandering the money made in the good times. They did this by trying to promote the econmy and get people back into work

70p for a Mars bar ?

Is that what they cost ??
Between 50p - 60p in our local shops.
As when any Tory * cough* sorry coalition govt is in- the rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer. By the time this little show is over in a few years there will be a bigger rich poor divide than ever before.
