i HAVE BEEN CHARGED WITH ASSAULT ON A UNIFORMED POLICE OFFICER , THE ONLY PREVIOUS CONVICTIONS i HAVE ARE DRUNK AND DISORDERLY AND BREACH OF THE PEACE INCLUDING FINES AND CONDITIONAL DISCHARGE. WHAT SENTENCE AM I LIKELY TO GET FOR THIS PLAEASE?

I intend to plead guilty and apologise sincerely to the police officer and explain that I am not drinking anymore and seeking help and going through depression. In your honest opinion taking into my previous minor convictions.Am I likely to get imprisonment?

My ex got 18months for assaulting an off duty officer and served 9, but i dont think you will get that hun, good luck and take care x

Oh yes.....bit worse than you and i think judge came down hard!!......others will know better than me, his was much worse, wouldntmworry about a stretch like that xxx

Nicky, just a word of advice regarding attending court and your demeanour whilst there. Dress smartly, suit etc, explain in a quiet unhurried voice that you have had depression and previous drink issues in the past and that you are deeply ahsamed and embarassed at what you have done but that it was actually a wake up call to you to see exactly how far out of whack your behaviour was and that it has caused you to stop drinking altogether and to get professinal help. Enrolling with AA or some other such organisation prior to your court date might be beneficial to prove it. Apologise, pile on thick anything that will help ( if you have kids, will lose your job, home etc) and just generally snivel to the bench and sound convincing and above all appear respectable so they think it's a one off and you've already learned your lesson.It's not a huge deal and if you do all the right things you should avoid custody altogether. Thank you Nox, yes I will dress smart and take your advice. I have enrolled with the community alcohol team and am doing everything right...Your advice is very re-assuring. Thank you x
