Ive cut a load of brambles back to the ground last year, if I now let them grow, will hey produce fruit this year?

The field that we are trying to turn into a garden was covered in brambles for over 40 years, I cut everything back to ground level.

Some of the brambles are now coming back up, will they produce fruit this year? if not I will just dig them out.

probably not enough to make a pie - brambles send out 'runners' and thorny ones at that, best dig them out

lol, if I had 1 blackberry on each bush I think I could have enough to make a pie.

I think blackberrys only grow on last years growth that didnt produce, if im thinking right.

I had brambles that covered the whole of my garden about 10 years ago. My dad kept hacking them down but they kept coming back. They always fruited (is that a word?) but were riddled with tiny wormy things.

keep a couple of strong stems per plant . cut out the rest and tie the stems along a framework of wires so the stems run horizontally and parallel to the ground shorten the stems to about 6 growth buds you should get fruit or keep spraying them with weed killer dig them out and plant a proper cultivar like oregon thornless

They will fruit with bigger juicier blackberrys. Pick before birds get them else the birds drop seeds everywhere in their droppings.
