Depends on the individual and how much sleep you need. I need at least 7 hours sleeps but I know others who can manage with a lot less.

I can sleep at any time, I function best with catnaps. I need at least 5 hours sleep a night, any less than that then I can't function well.
I've read that you should always try and get between six-eight hours of sleep. They say this is very important when it comes to increasing your chances of having a stroke/heart attack/cancer.
My OH works very irregular hours, he needs 4-5 hours sleep in the day if he is working overnight.

Its a well known fact that while in office Margaret Thatcher claimed she only needed 4 hours sleep. I thimk she was hyperavtive tho.

Your own body will tell you. Especially if you're going to do shift work. It will take a little time for your own body clock to adjust. Sleep and Awake time you cannot fix, go with the flow. Good Luck Jez.

But how long can someone stay awake for untill they should sleep again?
Is this a wind-up? Deduct the hours of sleep from 24 and it`ll give you a bit of a clue. Go on, stretch yourself!
