I have a Dyson DC01 Absolute which makes all the right noises but is short of suction, both through the wand and the main cleaner. I have replaced filters. I have had the thing apart and checked all the airways for blockages. I have replaced the drivebelt. But it still won't work. Do I put this down to old age (the Dyson) or is there a trick I've missed?
We had a Dyson hoover before and gave up on it after a year due to problems we kept having with it.
Now we have the Miele Cat and Dog 2200, which is great, had it nearly 2 years and it's still going great.
We have two Dysons (both nearly five years old) and have never had any trouble - have you checked the flexible hose visible under the cleaner for a split and is it properly fitted at both ends?
I have a DC01 as well and it sounds to me that you have done all the usual things that normally solve suction problems.
You might wanna give Dyson a call, they are normally very helpful in my experience, could prove cheaper than a replacement machine.
You may have checked this but I had a similar problem with the Dyson I had. I eventually found the blockage in the centre of the hose and cleared it by poking a long length of garden cane through it. I was never satisfied with the machine and replaced it with a Miele which has more power then you need.
I was gonna say maybe a blocked hose too. I used water to clear (one end on tap in the bath). I love dysons - mine died and I miss him - couldn't afford a new one.
Turn it upside down and you will find a small rubber flap at the end of the tube where the wand fits.
Make sure that the flap has not perished or has something jammed under it, and forcing it slightly open.
