Could anyone help identify a small 2 winged flying teardrop shaped insect. It was fluffy like a wasp and buzzed like a bee, had a long spiked nose. I am not sure if it had 4 or 6 legs. It was a bit more greenish that usual bee colour. Many thanks.

Flies have one pair of wings, bees and wasps have 2 pairs, that should narrow it down (a bit)

Wasps are certainly not fluffy!!!!
maybe a horse fly
All insects have six legs.
Green Shield bug?

Not a green shield bug either ...... I suppose it had 6 legs I didn't count.....maybe it had been in an accident and lost 2....
Try entering 'bee fly photo' in Google.
I've seen them too, funny little things.
