Email problem

One of my friends has a problem with his email.
He is on O2 network and uses email.com as his mail package. He can send messages but does not receive any.
Apparently there was a service upgrade recently and after that all incoming went straight to 'trash'. That has now stopped and they don't show anywhere.
Is this likely to be virus or problem with email program?

You may have to reconfigure your POP3 server as this is the place that you receive your emails. You may have to get in touch with your ISP and have them check their settings.

Thanks for that. I foolishly omitted to say that he also has a googlemail address and that is working OK at the moment.
