I think it was Mark Twain who said there are only three certainties in life - birth, death and taxes. I don't like the latter, but I don't have a choice, and I take consolation in the fact that when I'm unable to pay my own taxes, then I'll be able to benefit from those who do - just as others have benefitted from what I've paid in the past.
Of course, if you don't want your pension, your subsidised health care, emergency services and all the rest ...
Not that I'm wealthy, mind, but I like to think I work as hard as the next person.
