Some members of my family have recently turned to religion...out of the blue, I just dont understand why or what makes someone suddenly do the church thing....I also thought religious people were supposed to forgive others....I have found this not to be the case on many occasions throughout my life so far, also found people that are 'believers' to be the most arrogant, selfish, unforgiving people ever....and this really shocks me at times...

Religions will forgive you as long as you promise to follow their fairytale beliefs. IF you don't you'll end up in eternal damnation. How's that for a kind and forgiving diety?

Don't worry, you will never get it and if that would happen to you then others few would never get that. So its never ending scenarion.
